Course # 50501 Day(s) Th Time(s) 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM Term Fall 2017 The Harris School will, again this coming fall, offer a seminar titled “Leadership in Chicago”. This seminar will focus on Chicago and is described as "Eyes on Chicago: Individuals, Institutions and Initiatives that shape Chicago’s future". The seminar will meet on Thursday from 3:30-5:30 pm, Autumn Quarter 2018 and will again be taught by Cook County Clerk and Harris Senior Fellow, David Orr. Each week, the guest speakers will talk informally and off the record with students about careers, leadership and policy issues. Speakers generally allow plenty of time for student questions or comments. One unusual element of the seminar is that while it is included on your transcript like any other course, it is an "extra" course, one that confers zero units of credit – there are no exams or papers and there is no tuition cost to the students taking the seminar – so it is typically a fourth course taken that quarter. There are a few obligations incurred by signing up for the seminar. Students are expected to take on at least one task such as introducing a guest speaker, drafting thank you letters, and reviewing biographies. Most importantly, attendance is critical because the speakers are very busy and influential. A separate application process is required to attend this seminar. Notes This is a non-credit course and an application process is required.
