6/13/22 Update: We are no longer accepting applications for the summer 2023 cycle.

You found a summer internship that allows you to create a social impact, but there’s a catch - it’s unpaid or underfunded.

Summer internships are a critical component in your professional development - a chance to use your new skills towards real-world problems. Our goal is to help you pursue career options geared toward social impact, without the stress of financial barriers.

Funding Process

Each summer, thanks to generous donations and support from alumni and UChicago donors, we are proud to help fund part-time and full-time unpaid internships, as well as full-time underfunded internships.

To apply, do the following:

  • Explore available funding sources

  • Review the application details and eligibility requirements
    • If you are not eligible, your application will not be considered.
  • You must have the internship offer letter to submit an application.
    • Ask your hiring manager or supervisor to complete a form and generate a downloadable PDF which ensures all internship details are included in the application.
    • If the organization HR policies require the hiring manager to draft their own letter, simply ensure all required details are included for full consideration. Incomplete offers will be put on hold until all information is submitted.
  • Submit an application once you have received the internship offer letter.
