  • Public sector organization

Ineligible:

  • For-profit / private sector organization

  • Self-employment

If you are unsure about your internship sector, please email the Career Development Office (CDO) at Harriscdo@uchicago.edu.

Internship Offer Requirements

To ensure all requirements are met, we have designed an Internship Offer PDF Generator that the hiring manager can use to draft a complete offer.

If the organization’s HR policies require the hiring manager to draft their own letter, ensure that it has all of the following details:

  • Hiring Manager name, email, and job title
  • Organization name and department/unit name (if applicable)
  • Organization address
  • The offer letter must be addressed to you/your name
  • Organization sector (Public or Non-Profit)
  • Modality (In-Person, Hybrid, or Remote)
  • Internship start and end dates
    • Must take place between June and October 2024
  • Total internship hours*
    • Full-time is defined as at least 320 hours over the course of the summer. For example, both an 8-week internship requiring 40 hours per week, and a 10-week internship requiring 32 or more hours per week, would qualify for funding. Internships requiring more than 320 hours will not receive additional funding.
  • Supervision cadence totaling at least four hours over the course of the internship. Examples listed below:
    • Once a week for 30+ minutes
    • Once every other week for 60+ minutes
    • If your internship does not clarify supervision and you require assistance to get this information added to your offer letter, you may contact HarrisCDO@uchicago.edu for assistance
  • Main responsibilities, experiences, and/or deliverables
