Harris Public Policy's main building, The Keller Center, is located on the UChicago campus at 1307 East 60th Street, Chicago, IL 60637. 

The Keller Center is at the southeast corner of 60th Street and S. Kimbark Avenue.

Public Transportation

By Train

Transportation from the Loop is available by Metra rail. Catch the Metra's commuter train at the Randolph, Van Buren, or Roosevelt stations. Get off at 57th or 59th Street and walk west to Kimbark Avenue. Turn left and walk south to 60th Street.

By Bus

You can reach the University by bus on the Chicago Transit Authority's #6 Jeffery Express or the #2 Hyde Park Express, which runs during AM/PM Rush.

The #6 can be boarded in the Loop on State Street as well as several other stops in and near the Loop. Get off at 60th Street, walk under the train tracks, and continue west to Kimbark Avenue.

The #2 can also be boarded at several stops in the Loop. It stops in front of Harris at the corner of 60th Street and Kimbark.

Taxi or Shuttle To/From the Airports

By Taxi

The two main cab companies in Chicago are Checker Cab and Yellow Cab, and you can hire one just by calling T-A-X-I-C-A-B, or 312.829.4222. A taxi ride to or from O'Hare Airport can range anywhere from $30 to $50 and a ride to or from Midway Airport can cost as much as $20. Taxi fare from Downtown Chicago to Hyde Park is about $18.

If you're scheduling a pick-up, make sure to tell them your name and the time you need to be picked up. It's also important to call half an hour before pickup time to make sure that there are no misunderstandings.

Transportation between Hyde Park and O'Hare and Midway airports is available through a number of shuttle companies.

Driving Directions & Parking Information

From Downtown Chicago

Take Lake Shore Drive south to the 53rd Street exit. Follow 53rd Street to Kimbark Avenue. Turn left onto Kimbark Avenue and follow to 60th Street.

From O’Hare Airport

Exit the airport at I-90/Kennedy Expressway/Chicago Loop. Head south past the downtown area until you see signs for Lake Shore Drive south. Take Lake Shore Drive south to the 53rd Street exit. Follow 53rd Street to Kimbark Avenue. Turn left onto Kimbark Avenue and follow to 60th Street.

From Midway Airport

Exit the airport by turning left onto Cicero. Turn right at 55th Street and proceed east on 55th Street, as it curves, into Washington Park. The road will fork; stay to the right and follow the road to the Midway Plaisance (59th-60th Streets). Continue east on 59th Street to Kimbark Avenue. Turn right and follow to 60th Street.

From the North

Take I-94 south toward Chicago. Pass the downtown area and look for signs for Lake Shore Drive south. Take Lake Shore Drive south to the 53rd Street exit. Follow 53rd Street to Woodlawn Avenue. Turn left onto Kimbark Avenue and follow to 60th Street.

From the South

Take I-94, the Dan Ryan Expressway, north to Garfield Boulevard (55th Street). Proceed east on 55th Street, as it curves, into Washington Park. The road will fork; stay to the right and follow the road to the Midway Plaisance (59th-60th Streets). Continue east on 59th Street to Kimbark Avenue. Turn right and follow to 60th Street.

Parking on Campus

There is a free parking lot several blocks east at the corner of 60th Street and Stony Island. Although not guaranteed, there are usually open spaces.

In addition, street parking is an option, both in the blocks around Harris and along the Midway. During the school year, it is often more difficult to find a spot on the street, especially in the mornings.
