Students officially declare a major through the student portal (my.uchicago.edu), but you should meet with your College adviser as part of the process.
Students are eligible to declare a major starting in their second year. Ideally, students should declare the PBPL major by the Spring Quarter of their second year. Students wishing to declare the PBPL major in their fourth year should contact the PBPL department and their College adviser to discuss their options.
Students interested in learning more about the major may attend one of our annual open houses, info sessions, and specialization/practicum workshops. We also encourage you to meet with PBPL staff to discuss your options. Please refer to the Community Highlights page for upcoming PBPL events.
To double major in Public Policy and another discipline, visit the College's Academics page and our program catalog for information. The Public Policy major is quite accessible for students looking to graduate with a double major.
