December isn’t too early to plan for your summer, especially when there are many benefits to applying to the Data and Policy Summer Scholar (DPSS) Program by the December 13 Early Action deadline.

Benefits include:

Input on Research Topics

Applying early gives you the opportunity to provide input on capstone research topics. The Faculty Director of DPSS, Austin Wright, is currently in conversation with faculty about 2020 research projects. By applying early, you can communicate your policy areas of interest to faculty for consideration.

Scholarship Opportunities

Since several external scholarship opportunities require proof of admissions, the earlier you apply to DPSS, the earlier you can have an admission letter to apply for funding opportunities. Additionally, DPSS Program Director Shilin Liu is willing to write letters on behalf of admitted students to supplement their application to external scholarships.

Plan Ahead

Knowing where you’ll be in the summer allows you to think through vacation and travel logistics, as well as determine how you will maximize your four weeks in Chicago—there is a lot to do right near campus in Hyde Park!

International Students

There are two key benefits for international students. 1) You have greater time to gather documentation and prepare for the visa process…and we can help! Check out our Visa Information page or email us at [email protected] 2) If you plan to submit an Academic English Proficiency Assessment, then you should allow extra processing time to schedule the exam and receive the results.

Claim your benefits today by applying now.
