Emerging Leader's Program 

Join us virtually to learn about the Emerging Leaders Program, a selective opportunity for early-career MPP students at the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy. This session will cover program benefits—including academic-year internships with leading government and nonprofit organizations, a competitive scholarship plus $5,000 stipend, and tailored professional development—as well as eligibility criteria and how selection ties into your MPP application.     Nikki Horn, Program Director, provides holistic support for Harris' PhD and MACRM students, serving as their academic advisor and managing their degree progress. She'll join this session to answer your questions about the student experience.
  • Writing That Works: Crafting Your Writing Sample and Research Statement with Isabeau Dasho
    Tuesday, October 20, 8:30 a.m. 
    In an increasingly competitive PhD admissions landscape, every element of your application matters. This session breaks down two of the most consequential components: the writing sample and the research statement. We'll unpack what makes each document more effective, and how to have your materials speak to each other and, critically, an admissions committee. Participants will leave with a concrete outline to use as the foundation for their own materials. This session will be led by Isabeau Dasho, Senior Associate Director of the Writing Program, who has taught writing and rhetoric for over five years, including as Harris Writing Program Writing Coach and in the Humanities Core at the University of Chicago.
