Chicago, also known as the Windy City, is located on the shores of Lake Michigan and boasts a rich cultural heritage, impressive architecture, and numerous attractions. It's no surprise that Chicago is a popular tourist destination with people both in the United States and abroad, and when the weather starts to warm in the springtime, the city comes alive and offers a wide range of activities for visitors to enjoy. 

With our in-person Admitted Student Day approaching and many admitted students planning to visit, we'd like to present ten fun activites to consider when in Chicago this spring.

  1. Take a stroll along Lake Michigan and enjoy the stunning views of the city and the lake.
  2. Visit the Lincoln Park Zoo, one of the oldest zoos in the United States and home to a wide variety of animals from around the world.
  3. Explore the Art Institute of Chicago: this world-renowned art museum is home to a collection of art that spans centuries and the globe. 
  4. Visit the Willis Tower Skydeck to take in the breathtaking views of the city from its 103rd floor observation deck.
  5. Take a boat tour of the Chicago River to enjoy a unique view on the city from the water.
  6. Explore Millennium Park, which features numerous public art installations, including the iconic Cloud Gate sculpture, also known as "The Bean."
  7. Visit the Field Museum, home to a vast collection of specimens and artifacts, including Sue, the largest and most complete Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton ever found in the world.
  8. Shop and dine in the West Loop, a bustling neighborhood known for its trendy restaurants, stores, and galleries.
  9. Visit the Chicago Botanic Garden with its vast collection of plants and flowers from around the world.
  10. Catch a play or musical in Chicago’s thriving theatre scene, just in time for Chicago Theatre Week
