When you come to Harris, you will be joining a supportive community of faculty, staff and students. We are thrilled to announce that our own Milvia Rodriguez is the recipient of the Marlene F. Richman Award for Excellence and Dedication in Service to Students.  Milvia is an Assistant Director in Student Affairs, where she serves as an academic advisor to more than 120 masters students as well as manages the financial aid process for current students.

This is a campus-wide award. Out of thousands of staff at the University, only one person receives this award each year, and only students are allowed to submit nominations. Several Harris students nominated Milvia for the award. Some of the things that students said about Milvia in their nominations include:

“Milvia makes herself available to anyone and everyone. Her warmth and care is apparent in every interaction. Her support goes beyond that of an academic advisor.”

“She is also the type of person who always greets you with a smile and a person you feel comfortable talking to about concerns or issues. I'd say her best asset is her genuine interest for others well-being and her charisma.”

“She is not only respectful to others, but she also has the amazing quality of interacting with others with a closeness that speaks of camaraderie.”

We are so proud of Milvia and so thrilled that she has been recognized in this way.  Milvia exhibits the kind of empathy, kindness, and dedication that can’t be taught. Milvia is a wonderful example of what Harris offers to our students  – no less than a world-class experience with unparalleled attention to serving students and helping them reach their potential.
