We hope you are getting excited to meet your future classmates here at the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy. This week you’ll be hearing from your Orientation Leadersrising second years at Harris who will be in touch with you over the summer.

We’d also like to share a little about your incoming class. While we’ll share more detailed information once classes begin, below are a few pieces of information we think you’ll find interesting:

  • We’ve expanded the MAIDP program to include approximately 40 students. This includes some students funded by the Obama Foundation and others funded by Harris.
  • Your classmates come from 51 different countries.
  • Your peers also have attended many well-known undergraduate schools, including:
    • U.S.—Brown University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Emory University, Georgetown University, Harvard University, Northwestern University, Princeton University, University of California Berkeley, University of Chicago, University of Notre Dame, Vanderbilt University, Yale University  
    • International—Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas, Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México, Peking University, Tshinghua University
  • More than 30 of your incoming classmates have an AmeriCorps military, Peace Corps, or Teach for America background.
    • Meet Becky Harles, MA Class of 2020, who served in the Peace Corps in Benin, West Africa teaching women and girls essential business skills.
    • Meet Adam Roth, MPP Class of 2021, currently finishing a second grant year in Taiwan under the Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Program.
