Harris faculty member Ariel Kalil has been selected as one of 20 leaders in the realm of children and family healthcare to the 2018 class of Aspen Institute Ascend Fellows. Throughout the next 18 months, Fellows will bring together their varied expertise to create new opportunities for children and families.

Professor Kalil is a developmental psychologist whose current research examines the influence of income-based gaps in both parenting behavior and children’s cognitive skills. She is the director of the Center for Human Potential and Public Policy (CHPPP) and a co-director of the Behavioral Insights and Parenting (BIP) Lab. A recent study from BIP showed the results of working with parents of Head Start children in goal-setting family reading time.
