The Data and Policy Summer Scholar Program (DPSS) presents a chance to learn coding and techniques for policy analysis in 8 weeks!  With deadlines for the summer of 2024 approaching, we’ve provided you this checklist to make sure you are ready to submit a complete and strong application to DPSS.

  • Start your application here and choose "non-degree" as the program type
  • Select the "Data and Policy Summer Scholar Program”

Application Materials

  • Online application
  • Motivation statement (word limit: 300)   
    • Why do you want to apply for the Data and Policy Summer Scholar Program? Please describe how you would benefit from the program and what is your action plan before, during and after the program that will help you achieve your personal and professional goals.
  • Résumé (1–2 pages is recommended)
  • Academic transcripts
    • Transcripts must clearly state your full name and name of university or academic institution
    • Transcripts detail the course names, dates (term and year), grades, and grading scales for each year of postsecondary (college or university) education.
    • Provide a transcript for each degree conferred (undergraduate and graduate). Transcripts for non-degree or single-course study are not required.
    • Unofficial transcripts are accepted when applying. If accepted,  You may upload a PDF copy.
    • An English translation must be submitted for all foreign language transcripts.
