The course covers methods for acquiring, cleaning, visualizing, and analyzing geospatial data, with an emphasis on empirical applications in public policy. Through lectures, hands-on programming assignments, and real-world case studies, students will learn how to answer policy-relevant questions involving topics such as transportation, housing, environmental justice, urban development, and local economic activity. As a culminating project, students will complete a term paper that applies the analytical tools introduced in the course to a policy-related research question. Notes Students must complete PPHA 30537 or PPHA 49901 and PPHA 30538 or PPHA 49902, or equivalent coursework to enroll.
