The Jewish Student Interest Group (JSIG) at Harris aims to provide a forum for Jewish students and those interested in Judaism to celebrate and learn about Jewish holidays and traditions. One of the many strengths of Harris is the cultural diversity of our student body. JSIG works to foster a sense of community for Jewish students and make it easy to observe holidays throughout the academic year. JSIG partners with UChicago Hillel, the center for Jewish life on campus, to promote events such as Grad Student Shabbat (Friday Night) Dinners, High Holy Day services, and Passover Meals. These gatherings allow Harris students to meet Jewish students from other graduate programs, and provide an easy way for non-Jewish students to learn about Judaism in an informal setting. JSIG hopes to strengthen the cultural awareness of all Harris students and serve the needs of Jewish students of all levels of observance.
