Domestic and Permanent Residents Only

Students can begin applying for the Graduate PLUS Loans in June. A credit-check (valid for 180 days) is required for the Graduate PLUS. Please make sure that you complete the additional Graduate PLUS Master Note (MPN) can both be completed at https://studentloans.gov/. For additional information, please refer to UChicago Financial Aid website.


All Students

Claim your UChicago email and network ID as soon as possible. You will need it to access many of the UChicago systems on this checklist. Starting June 1, 2022 all official Harris and University communications will be sent to your UChicago email. You are responsible for reading all email correspondence.

Note: To claim your UChicago email and network ID, you will need your UChicago ID number, which is an 8 digit number starting with "12." You should have received an email after you paid your deposit providing you with your UCID number. If you do not know your UCID number, please email Admissions, and they will look it up for you.


All Master's Students (Except MACRM)

Complete the math self-assessment as soon as possible to help you decide whether to attend Math & Coding Camp.


Early June: Information released about Core Course Advanced Placement and Waiver Exams, including information about PhD Courses

Master's Students (Except MACRM)

We will hold Core Course Advanced Placement and Waiver Exams in September, before the start of Autumn Quarter. Master's students interested in taking the advanced versions of core courses or waiving advanced courses based on prior coursework should sign up to take these exams. We will provide more information on these exams and also information about PhD courses in early June.

June 17, 2024:

All Master's Students (Except MACRM)

Registration for this three-week review course designed to ensure that incoming master's students are prepared for the mandatory math exam held during Welcome Week.

(PhD/MACRM students are required to participate in the Mathematical Methods Program.)


June 30, 2023: Deadline for Federal Financial Aid

Domestic and Permanent Residents Only

The UChicago Financial Aid provides details about completing your FAFSA and other steps you need to follow to apply federal financial aid. Read more about your financial aid options.

(PhD/MACRM students are required to participate in the Mathematical Methods Program.)


July 1, 2024: Access the New Student Orientation Modules

Access to the new student orientation modules begins. They will be published throughout the summer and will include a wealth of information for new students.


July 8, 2024: Access Dataquest

Access the coding platform, Dataquest, to start building your skills in Stata and R. All incoming students receive eight months of free, premium access to Dataquest through Harris.


Week of July 22, 2024: Mid-Summer Orientation Meeting

Reconnect with fellow incoming student and Orientation Leaders and start getting ready for everything orientation!


July 31, 2024: Deadline for Submitting Your Transcript

All Students

All student must submit transcripts from their previous institutions by following these steps.
