From Various Outlets November 05, 2019 Harris Public Policy Dean Katherine BaickerHarris Public Policy Dean Katherine Baicker was featured in The Washington Post and Politico, discussing the implications of Senator Elizabeth Warren's recently-released health care reform proposal as well as the economics of health care in general. Speaking to the question of how many jobs in the private health insurance industry would be lost under a Medicare-for-All or similar plan, Baicker told The Washington Post that "it's just the wrong metric for evaluating health policy. There are lots of things that warrant really important consideration in these health reform plans, but the argument for or against can't hinge in jobs." Baicker spoke with Politico about the health care system's economic balance, stating that the "collision" between increasing demand for health care services while paying doctors and hospitals less "is likely to result in shortages, waiting times, or other consequences."
