National Fair Chance Hiring Conference – Erasing Criminal Records: What’s New in Policy and Practice Tue., October 08, 2024 | 1:30 PM — 5:00 PM Chicago Urban League 4510 S Michigan Ave Chicago, IL 60653 United States Register Now! Roughly 1/3 of working age adults in the United States has an arrest or conviction record, which can pose a significant barrier to employment, supporting one’s family, participating in society, and overall economic growth. Criminal record remediation (i.e., sealing or expungement) for those who have served their time, can be a panacea to the stigma associated with a record…if you can get it. Join us for an exclusive discussion around expungement, as part of the National Fair Chance Hiring Conference, where we will bring students and alumni from across the University to talk with national expungement leaders: what’s working, what’s not, and what’s the future. Attendees will leave with a greater understanding of the current realities of the process, the vision for expanded access through policy improvements, and how expungement can be a win-win for employers. The event will include a keynote speaker, panel of policy practitioners, attorneys, employers, and those with lived experience and will be followed by a reception with small bites, wine, and beer. If you have additional questions please contact us at liz.mieliwocki@corpcoalition.org and to cancel registration email HarrisAlumni@Uchicago.edu. +More Event Information When: October 8, 2024, 1:30 PM – 5:00 PM CDT (GMT-5) 1:30 – 2:00 pm: Travel to Chicago Urban League 2:00 – 3:30 pm: Program 3:30 – 4:30 pm: Reception (bites, beer, and wine) 4:30 – 5:00 pm: Return travel to Rubenstein Where: Chicago Urban League (transportation provided – details below) 4510 S Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60653 Transportation: The event will be held at Chicago Urban League, 4510 S Michigan Ave in Bronzeville.
