From UChicago News July 26, 2017 Katelyn Silva Professors David Meltzer (left) and Daniel Diermeier (right) with Cook County Sherrif Tom Dart (center)Professors David Meltzer and Daniel Diermeier opened a the Supportive Release Center in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood, a partnership between the University of Chicago Health Lab and community organizations, aimed at addressing mental health for individuals exiting Cook County Jail. “The center is a place for individuals to pause and connect to social services and other resources that can help prevent re-incarceration and protect against the addiction or mental health problems that make them vulnerable after jail discharge," Meltzer said.
