June 11, 2019 News CHICAGO – Hill A. Feinberg, Chairman of HilltopSecurities and member of the advisory board for the Center for Municipal Finance, has given a generous gift to the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy to support Harris Public Policy’s commitment to educating young people, particularly in the area of municipal finance. “HilltopSecurities is a leader in the field of municipal finance,” said Michael D. Belsky AM'83, executive director of the Center for Municipal Finance at Harris. “We are grateful for Hill Feinberg’s support of the Center as a longstanding member of our board and employer of Harris graduates, and are excited about the potential this gift brings for wider engagement with the Harris community.” “Harris is making a difference by giving the next generation of leaders an analytical toolkit that they can use to actually solve problems, not just talk about them,” Feinberg said. “Large gaps in knowledge about municipal finance among decisionmakers and the public at large persist, and is the biggest challenge our industry has. HilltopSecurities is committed to being a part of the solution and teaching students about municipal finance and other important issues facing the country and the globe.” In recognition of the generous support of Hill A. Feinberg and HilltopSecurities, Harris has named a team room in their honor at its state-of-the-art new home, the Keller Center. The team room is situated opposite the main student common area and students can be found there at every hour, studying and collaborating with their peers. “Municipal finance is part of every American’s life,” said M. Bradley Winges, president and chief executive officer at HilltopSecurities. “Each day we use multiple things that wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for the municipal finance industry—from the water and electricity we use, to the roads we drive on, and the schools we attend. Each is financed with municipal borrowing and it is why HilltopSecurities is focused on being the nation’s leader in municipal finance. Education is an important part of that mission, as demonstrated by our work with Harris, as well as HilltopSecurities University—a new education program that will provide foundational knowledge on our industry and help us attract, train and retain new talent to our business.” Feinberg received his bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Georgia Terry College of Business in 1969. After graduating, he joined the U.S. Army as a member of the Corps of Engineers and served as a first lieutenant in Vietnam between 1970 and 1971. He received the Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2008 from the Terry College of Business. Feinberg is a past chairman of the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board, the self-regulatory organization with responsibility for authoring the rules that govern the municipal securities activities of registered broker-dealers. He also serves on the Advisory Board of the Center for Municipal Finance, Harris Public Policy at the University of Chicago. For more images, click here. About Hilltop Securities Inc.
