Harris Public Policy Professor James Robinson's book The Narrow Corridor: States, Society, and the Fate of Liberty – coauthored with Daron Acemoglu – was featured by Five Books as one of the best political books of 2020. 

"The picture that emerges from the work of Acemoglu and Robinson is that democratic institutions have tremendous benefits and that many people around the world really do desire them. But the conditions for democracy are difficult to create and they are not easily imposed from the outside."
