Dean Katherine Baicker Discusses Alternatives to Medicare

Harris Public Policy Dean Katherine Baicker was featured in the public policy podcast Tradeoffs discussing her paper that explores the shortcomings of Medicare for All and proposes a more economical alternative.

“We are trying to highlight the rising cost of having a generous insurance plan like Medicare for All that delivers the same health insurance benefits for everyone it covers,” said Baicker. “We propose an alternative where you have a more basic insurance plan with great financial protections for patients, that pays doctors adequately but only covers services that are of sufficiently high value in terms of the heath that they produce.”
