Professor Christopher Berry Defends New Tax Assessment Model

In a recent Chicago Tribune article, Harris Public Policy Professor Christopher Berry defends the new tax assessment model he created after Cook County Assessor states that an independent third party will look into the county's current model and evaluate new, developing models.

"Bringing in a third party to fix the system is a great idea," said Professor Berry. "But bringing in a third party to study yet again whether the system is unfair would be a waste of time. We have a study showing clearly that it's unfair. ... The assessor hasn't provided one shred of evidence to challenge that conclusion."
