Crain's Chicago Business reports on University of Chicago Crime Lab research May 24, 2024 Crain's Chicago Business reported on new research findings from The University of Chicago Urban Labs Crime Lab about a spike in violence in Chicago during the summer months. “We have a lot of data that points us to the specific places that are most likely to experience high rates of gun violence, and we should use that data to inform decision-making, policymaking (and) investment decisions,” said Kim Smith, director of programs at the Crime Lab.
