Harris Public Policy Professors Anthony Fowler, William Howell, and James Robinson participated in a Facebook Live discussion entitled “Transfer of Power: Insurrections, Inaugurations, and the Future of Democracy,” with much of the discussion placing former President Trump’s efforts to subvert the election results in a comparative, global context, and examining the populist forces that will continue to influence American politics.

Topics included the January 6 attempted insurrection, the Biden administration’s initial plans, and the Biden inauguration and US system of power transfer.

Howell and Fowler are co-hosts, with Associate Professor Wioletta Dziuda of Not Another Politics Podcast, and are affiliated with the Center for Effective Government at Harris. Robinson is the director of The Pearson Institute for the Study and Resolution of Global Conflicts.

The Pearson Institute and the Center for Effective Government cosponsored the event with Harris.
