Get ready to start your Evening Master's Program classes the first week in October. Use this checklist to make sure you're ready to hit the ground running.


ACCEPT YOUR OFFER AND PAY YOUR DEPOSIT

Deadline: As stated in your letter of admission

 

Complete the Admissions Reply Form and pay your $350 non-refundable deposit no later than the date stated in your letter of admission to secure your place in the Evening Master's Program. (Use the same login information that you used for your application.)


SAVE THE DATE AND RSVP FOR THE ADMITTED STUDENTS' RECEPTION

AUGUST 1, 2018

Students admitted to the Evening Master's Program are invited to the Admitted Students' Reception to hear from Harris Public Policy alumni, faculty, and staff from Career Development and Academic and Student Affairs.


SUBMIT YOUR FINANCIAL AID APPLICATION

IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED DEADLINE: August 3, 2018

 

If you intend to apply for financial aid, the UChicago Student Loan Administration (SLA) provides details about completing your FAFSA and other steps you need to follow to apply federal financial aid.  Be sure to include school code 001774 on your 2018-2019 FAFSA.

CLAIM YOUR UCHICAGO EMAIL & NETWORK ID; INSTALL VPN SOFTWARE

IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED DEADLINE: August 3, 2018

 

Claim your UChicago email and network ID as soon as possible. You will need it to access many of the UChicago systems on this checklist.

In order to access UChicago email, class software, and other network sites from home and at 1871, you will also need to install UChicago's VPN software on your computer.

Note: To claim your UChicago email and network ID, you will need your UChicago ID number, which is an 8-digit number starting with "12." You should have received an email after you paid your deposit providing you with your UCID number. If you do not know your UCID number, please email Admissions, and they will look it up for you.


SUBMIT YOUR TRANSCRIPT

Deadline: August 15, 2018

 

If you submitted unofficial transcripts during the application process, you need to send your official transcripts to Harris by Wednesday, August 15, 2018. To submit official transcripts:

  • If your previous institutions allow you to submit electronic official transcripts, you may request those be sent to Harris at [email protected]
  • Alternatively, you may request that your transcript be sent by USPS first-class mail or express shipping. Transcripts should be sent to: Harris Public Policy, ATTN: Admissions, 1155 East 60th Street, Chicago, IL 60637

Please do not send transcripts showing "unofficial" or "issued to student." We do not recommend that you to hand deliver opened transcripts as these may not be considered official.

COMPLETE THE MATH SELF-ASSESSMENT

ASSESMENT RELEASED: August 6, 2018

At the beginning of August, you will receive an email with the self-assessment exam. The results of the self-assessment exam will be used to customize the Math Camp curriculum, ensuring that students receive math content that meets your specific needs.


COURSE REGISTRATION

Confirm by August 27, 2018

 

You will be enrolled automatically for your courses each term. You will be asked to confirm your registration by email. Registration for Autumn Quarter will occur around August 13, 2018. Please keep an eye open for your confirmation email around that time.


NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION

Part 1: September 5, 2018
Part 2: September 12, 2018

 

New Student Orientation for the Evening Master's Program will be held from 9 a.m. — 6:30 p.m. at 1871 at the Merchandise Mart .  This two part program will consist of orientation information sessions and networking and community building opportunities. 


MATH CAMP

September 17, 2018

 

Math Prep will be held September 17, 2018 from 6 p.m. — 9 p.m. at 1871. Math Camp is a review course offered to all incoming EMP students designed to ensure proficiency for Data Analytics I.


STATA CAMP

September 24, 2018

 

Stata Camp will be held September 24, 2018 from 6 p.m. — 9 p.m. at 1871. Stata Camp is an introductory course offered to all incoming EMP students designed to gain familiarity with the statistical software used to complete assignments in Data Analytics I.


SUBMIT PROOF OF IMMUNIZATION

Deadline: September 24, 2018

 

UChicago requires that all students submit proof of immunization. Please review detailed instructions about immunizations required for enrollment and submit all forms by Monday, September 24, 2018.


PAY WINTER QUARTER BILL

Deadline: September 28, 2018

 

You will receive your tuition bill on or shortly after August 31, 2018. Final payment is due Friday, September, 28, 2018. Login to your My.UChicago student portal to access your ebill and pay your tuition. More information about your ebill and managing your student account is available from the UChicago Office of Bursar.

 


REVIEW COURSE SYLLABI AND COMPLETE FIRST WEEK ASSIGNMENTS AND READINGS
