About

Cristian Bancayan is a Research Coordinator at the Behavioral Insights and Parenting (BIP) Lab at the University of Chicago. In this role, he supports the research team in designing, implementing, and managing large-scale data collection efforts, and provides technical assistance aligned with the Lab’s goals in early childhood development.

Prior to this role, Cristian worked as a Research Assistant at the BIP Lab, contributing to field research and data operations for projects such as Show Up to Grow Up (SUGU) and Chat2Learn. He brings over five years of experience in the Peruvian public sector, where he led monitoring and evaluation strategies for social protection programs. He served as Coordinator of Ayni Lab Social at the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion, leading innovation initiatives focused on rural development and child development. Cristian also worked at IDinsight in Zambia, where he evaluated a national cash transfer program. He provides technical assistance to a Peruvian NGO aiming to promote inclusive sports in rural communities. 

Cristian holds a Master of Public Policy from the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago, where he received the Susan E. Mayer Award for Excellence in Field Research from the BIP Lab. He also holds a BA in Economics from the National University of San Marcos in Peru.
