About

Lexi Hughes is an Assistant Director of Student Recruitment at the University of Chicago’s Harris School of Public Policy, where she leads outreach and engagement efforts to attract diverse, mission-driven candidates to the school’s graduate programs. She focuses on building inclusive recruitment strategies and creating meaningful connections with prospective students.

Previously, Lexi held several admissions roles at the University of Iowa, including Assistant Director of Engineering Admissions and Outreach and Senior Admission Counselor for Diversity Recruitment and Outreach. In these positions, she led strategic recruitment efforts, developed inclusion-focused programming, advised students, and trained student ambassadors to support campus visits.

Beyond her professional roles, Lexi has held leadership positions in campus-wide initiatives aimed at supporting underrepresented students, including serving as Co-Chair of the OnIowa! Multicultural Committee and as an advisor to the Students to Assist Recruitment (STAR) organization.

Lexi earned her B.A. in Interdepartmental Studies: Business Studies from the University of Iowa. She is recognized for her dynamic presentation skills, collaborative leadership, and her deep commitment to helping students see their potential and find their place in higher education.
