Linxi Lu received her Ph.D. in Applied Developmental and Educational Psychology from Boston College. She earned her bachelor’s degree in economics from Washington University in St. Louis, and subsequently obtained a master’s degree from the Human Development and Psychology program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Her research focuses on understanding the factors contributing to variability in the home learning environment and ways to promote early cognitive development. Linxi has designed and implemented several studies, collaborating with over 200 parents and their preschool-aged children. Additionally, she plays a key role in a large-scale longitudinal study, funded by a $1.4 million grant from the Institute of Education Sciences, aimed at enhancing the use of advanced math strategies among low-income students.

Linxi has been published in top-tier journals such as Developmental Psychology, Education Sciences, Journal of Intelligence, and Journal of Child and Family Studies. She also has papers under review in the Journal of Experimental Child Psychology and Child Development. Her expertise and creativity in studying the home math environment have been recognized by the American Educational Research Association, Division E, with the Outstanding Dissertation Award. She was also awarded a competitive Summer Dissertation Fellowship ($2,000) by the Boston College faculty and was named a Next Generation of Family Math Researchers Dissertation Fellow ($10,000) by the National Association for Family, School, and Community Engagement.
