On July 1, Professor Kerwin Charles became interim dean of Harris Public Policy July 05, 2016 Jake J. Smith In late March, it was announced that Harris Dean Daniel Diermeier would become the new provost of the University of Chicago. And so began the search to find his temporary replacement. The interim dean would need to be somebody with the vision to sustain Dean Diermeier’s ambition, and who could ensure a smooth transition. The president would find just such a leader in Kerwin Charles, who officially assumed the position of interim dean on July 1.
