From Chicago Sun-Times June 12, 2020 Laura Washington Joselynne Gardner (CLA’19)Joselynne Gardner (CLA’19) was featured in Chicago Sun-Times discussing the struggle of having the "The Talk” with her son, especially against the backdrop of the George Floyd protests. The Talk is the conversation all African American parents need to have to equip their children with the tools to be safe during encounters with the police. “Life is always going to be unfair. We are black in America. That’s the reality. But my son is of the mind that it shouldn’t have to be,” said Gardner. “He is demanding that they treat us as the law is written. And I am inspired by that.” Full coverage available at Chicago Sun-Times.
