Professor Damon Jones Discusses Ways to Simplify Tax Day and Assist Low-Income Families

Harris Public Policy Professor Damon Jones authored an article in The Washington Post discussing the effects of the tax code on low-income families, and ways the IRS could assist in simplifying Tax Day for people of all income brackets.

"This annual ritual could be completely avoided for half of tax filers or more if the government would simply use the information it already has and automatically prefill their returns for them," Jones wrote. "And the real winners would be low-income households, which could benefit immediately from a simpler filing method."
