Why is Harris Public Policy offering a degree in International Development and Policy?

Harris Public Policy already offers a successful Master of Arts in Public Policy for professionals who are looking to gain the fundamentals of policy analysis in one year, and now provides an option to meet the needs and goals of rising international leaders.

As an Obama Foundation Scholar, you’ll take part in a new program that combines a Master of Arts degree at Harris with a one-of-a-kind scholarship that includes access to exceptional experiences offered by the Obama Foundation. Together, they reflect the Obama Foundation and Harris Public Policy’s commitment to developing the next generation of international leaders to make a positive impact around the world.

As one of the world’s leading policy schools, Harris is already a diverse international community. Harris students hail from 36 countries and speak 26 languages. Half of Harris’ current students come from outside the U.S. Harris has more than 3,000 alumni worldwide.

Harris students have the opportunity to engage with leading faculty at the school and across UChicago who are exploring solutions to today’s pressing international policy issues, spanning international development, health and education, energy and the environment, poverty, joblessness and inequality, global security and conflict studies and resolution, and more.

International policy issues are a growing part of the Harris curriculum. Students can already pursue certificates in International Development or Global Conflict, choose from a wide range of electives across campus, and apply their new skills to real-world policy challenges through Harris Policy Labs – a unique experiential learning initiative that allows students to engage in projects with organizations in around the world.
