A working paper coauthored by Harris Public Policy Professor William Howell was featured in a new article from Vox about the effect of presidents' public rituals and performances on those who viewed the presidential inauguration and the President's speech to a joint session of Congress. 

“Those people who were particularly cool toward Trump...updated quite a bit when they observed him performing in these two big performances,” William Howell said. “We find is that they come to terms with the fact that he, is in fact, our president, and that he represents the country as a whole.”
