A police office who responds to a stressful call, like a domestic violence situation, is more likely to respond in later calls with excessive force. Targeting officers who have had stressful calls could reduce the number of police shootings. Joe Walsh is a researcher at the Center for Data Science and Public Policy (DSaPP), a collaboration between the Harris School of Public Policy and the Computation Institute that uses mathematical models to solve social problems.
