For the 2018-2019 school year, the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy more than doubled applications for admission to its graduate degree programs during its Early Action round.

As Harris prepares to support this newest class of policy thinkers, makers and changers, the school is excited about the growing adoption and momentum of its Leadership Credential, a program designed to ensure the future success of Harris graduates, says Brandon Kurzweg, assistant director of student affairs.

Kurzweg anticipates that approximately 30 students will earn the credential for this academic year.  And, Leadership Credential programming continues to expand this year to include membership in the Chicago Council on Global Affairs Young Professionals Network, and new events, like a three part lecture series.

The Leadership Credential is a professional development program that complements the rigorous Harris academic experience by immersing students in coordinated co-curricular experiences. Through completion of the Leadership Credential, Harris students build transferable skills including self-awareness, professional adaptability, project and program management aptitude, and communications expertise.

By honing key skills, engaging the Chicago community, and taking active roles in Chicago professional associations while still at Harris, students are better positioned to forge their careers as national and international leaders and policymakers upon graduation.
