Assistant Instructional Professor

About

Nate Vellekoop is an Assistant Instructional Professor at the Harris School of Public Policy. His research interests include labor economics, household finance and empirical macroeconomics. Currently he studies household expectations and decisions, worker compensation and wage structures, and gender differences in financial decision making.

Prior to UChicago he taught at the University of Toronto as an Assistant Professor and at the Goethe University Frankfurt as Assistant Professor of Household Finance. His teaching experience includes teaching and administration of large classes (500-2,000 students), flipped classrooms and online teaching, and the use of games and technology to increase in-class engagement. He has taught courses in principles of micro- and macroeconomics, finance, labor economics, econometrics and behavioral macroeconomics. He is currently interested in how to incorporate financial literacy into principles of economics courses.
