Harris Public Policy celebrates service, knowing that it doesn't stop after your AmeriCorps year.

A Common Commitment

Harris Public Policy and AmeriCorps are united in their commitment to making an impact through positive social change.

“Harris is all about improving lives through practical policy solutions... Just as AmeriCorps members seek to get things done, so too do Harris students.”
– Ryan Higgins, AmeriCorps Alumnus, MPP '17

Harris Helps You Achieve Success on Your Terms

AmeriCorps alumni have long brought their talents to Harris, where they hone their skills in evidence-based analysis and gain relevant experience outside the classroom alongside like-minded individuals.

You can start making a difference on day one by immersing yourself in applied learning opportunitiesstudent organizations, or Harris Policy Labs, a unique initiative that teams Harris students with client organizations and real-time public policy challenges like the Gary Project.

Combining a strong foundation in data analysis with real-world engagement in Chicago and beyond, at Harris, you'll follow the evidence to investigate the world's problems, challenge the easy answers, and confront the real issues.

“I am pursuing the municipal finance certificate at Harris, which will provide me with valuable insights related to the financing options available to local governments and further my quantitative analysis skills.”
– Rachel Gordon, AmeriCorps Alumna, MPP '17

Harris Classrooms Extend Beyond Four Walls

Harris AmeriCorps and Teach for America alumni are leveraging their Harris experience to create social impact.

Aviva Rosman, a Teach for America alumna, created BallotReady, an online platform that makes it easy for voters to get to know the candidates on their ballots and make informed decisions in the voting booth.

Taylor Docking, an AmeriCorps alumnus, received the Harris Alumni Fellowship.

“I’ve been involved with AmeriCorps at every level and can confidently say that AmeriCorps service, combined with the rigorous quantitative training offered at Harris, creates the ideal combination of firsthand experience and world-class education to develop the next generation of effective change agents.”

– Adam McGriffin, AmeriCorps Alumnus, Harris Public Policy Director of Career Development & External Partnerships
