Over the past decade, the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy has experienced significant growth, attracting a diverse group of students with its exceptional quantitative training, research opportunities, innovative experiences, and strong job placements, leading graduates to excel in impactful careers. Despite this growth, enhancing the student experience and establishing distinctive program reputations remain priorities. Harris Public Policy alumni play an integral role in helping deserving students access a Harris education and launching the careers of amazing future graduates of Harris.
Established by members of the Harris Alumni Council, the Harris Alumni Scholarship Fund aims to support at least one exceptional incoming student per year by covering half of his or her tuition. Recipients are selected based on excellent academic credentials, professional or volunteer experiences, impact potential, and a strong sense of ownership over why they have selected Harris and ultimately how a degree in public policy will help them achieve their goals.
Professional prowess begins with real-world experience, from internships to practica. Donor support for practica enables more students to participate in experiential learning programs, sharpening their skills while making contributions that benefit public life. Funding for internships allows students to take unpaid or underpaid, substantive positions with governments, NGOs, and nonprofits, where they gain valuable experience on high-impact projects.
