Much of Harris Public Policy’s success comes from the success of our alumni who have gone on to become influential leaders in the policy world and have contributed significantly to Harris through time, treasure, and talent. Your willingness to engage with Harris at whatever level of involvement you prefer will strengthen our community and help shape the next generation of policy leaders.
Whether you are new in your career or well established, Harris students and your fellow alumni will benefit from your involvement. As a graduate, you are among our best ambassadors to talented new applicants. As a professional in your sector, you have valuable insights, working experience, and networks to share.
Harris is positioned to become the preeminent institution for objective policy research, teaching, and the development of innovative leaders across sectors. Part of the University of Chicago Campaign: Inquiry and Impact, the Campaign for Harris strategically focuses on four priorities: fellowships; academic centers and programs; internships and practica; and Harris' future home, the Keller Center.
Harris Public Policy alumni play an integral role in helping deserving students access a Harris education and launching the careers of amazing future graduates of Harris.
Established by members of the Harris Alumni Council, the Harris Alumni Fellowship Fund aims to support at least one exceptional incoming student per year by covering half of his or her tuition. Recipients are selected based on excellent academic credentials, professional or volunteer experiences, impact potential, and a strong sense of ownership over why they have selected Harris and ultimately how a degree in public policy will help them achieve their goals.
Professional prowess begins with real-world experience, from internships to practica. Donor support for practica enables more students to participate in experiential learning programs, sharpening their skills while making contributions that benefit public life. Funding for internships allows students to take unpaid or underpaid, substantive positions with governments, NGOs, and nonprofits, where they gain valuable experience on high-impact projects.
