Featuring Hanna Holborn Gray, President Emeritus of the University of Chicago

Historian and veteran academic administrator Hanna Holborn Gray will discuss her observations of the university world over some 65 years, with special attention to major changes and continuities in higher education. She will explore critical and recurrent issues confronting academic institutions such as their missions and priorities, their relations to government and to the conditions of the larger society, debates over academic freedom and freedom of expression, and the ultimate value of education and research.
