Shiny new things and public priorities

In a May 20, 2024 op-ed featured on Route Fifty, Prof. Paula Worthington writes about the limited economic impact of publicly funded stadiums and arenas: 

Significant public funding for private development endeavors may make sense when there are significant public benefits to compensate for the public expenses, but in the present case, identifiable public benefits seem scarce.
