Municipal prioritization of efficiency "sometimes leads to disproportionate impact for different types of people," Ghani said. He noted that governments increasingly rely on web-based algorithms and introduced Aequitas, an open souce bias audit toolkit which was developed by Ghani and other researchers at the Center for Data Science and Public Policy.
