Michele Wucker coined the term “gray rhino” to describe obvious risks that are “neglected despite – indeed, often because of their size and likelihood.” Her gray rhino metaphor has made headlines around the world. Commentators have mentioned it in nearly 300 articles and 40 countries since January. Michele’s 2019 TED Talk has attracted more than two million views. Our conversation with her will dive into “The Gray Rhino,” to explore her insights on leadership, uncertainty, global economics, COVID-19, and policy-making. Michele is the CEO of her own management and non-profit consulting company. She has previously served as the Vice President for Studies at The Chicago Council on Global Affairs, President of the World Policy Institute, and Latin America Bureau Chief at International Financing Review. Michele earned a BA in French and Policy Studies at Rice University and a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University.
