About Marnie L. Van der Voort

Marnie L. Van der Voort returns to the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy in the position of Associate Director of Student Recruitment, Mid-Career Programs.  She joins Harris from her most recent role as the Director of Donor Relations at the Cancer Wellness Center in Northbrook, IL – a non-profit organization which seeks to improve the emotional and physical well-being of those diagnosed with cancer and their families. 

She has held many positions in the public policy sector throughout her career, including serving as the Associate Director of the Richard M. Daley Distinguished Senior Fellowship at UChicago Harris.  Before assuming her role at the University of Chicago, she enhanced global relationships as a Senior Advisor at the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Chicago, Deputy Director of the Mayor’s Office of International Relations at the City of Chicago, and Director of Special Projects for the Chicago 2016 Olympic bid committee.

A native Texan and fluent Spanish speaker, prior to her non-profit/public policy service, Marnie worked in the private sector as a reinsurance underwriter, with a specialization in Latin America.

Marnie earned a master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy and a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from Northwestern University.
