Millikan Distinguished Service Professor in Physics and Executive Vice President for Research, Innovation and National Laboratories at the University of Chicago. He is a condensed matter physicist whose research focuses on quantum materials, low temperature and semiconductor physics, and new energy technologies. He previously served as provost of the University and is a former director of Argonne National Laboratory. Isaacs is an American Physical Society fellow, sits on the boards of several US Department of Energy national laboratories, and has served on the US Department of Energy’s Basic Energy Sciences Advisory Committee.
