About Theodore Barnes

Chicagoland native Theodore Barnes is the Associate Director of Recruitment and Global Outreach for all graduate programs at Harris School of Public Policy.

Theodore enthusiastically joined Harris after an impactful career leading the Admissions Office at Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice. A current part-time Ph.D. student in the Loyola University of Chicago School of Education Higher Education Program, Theodore is a recognized higher education leader and educator with more than 14 years of experience in student services, recruitment, and academic affairs. Theodore's expertise includes student recruitment strategy and execution; curricular programming development and delivery, event planning; Title IX funding; and grant and scholarship management.

Theodore completed his B.A. in criminal justice from Benedictine University, his M.S. in higher education from Purdue University, and he recently completed the UChicago's Booth School of Business Executive Leadership Certificate Program. Theodore is passionate about higher educational equity, particularly for individuals of underrepresented populations and first-generation college students. A family man and father, Theodore mostly enjoys spending time with his three dogs, traveling, reading, exercising, and trying food and restaurants from different cultures.
