About

Robert French is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Harris School of Public Policy and the Mansueto Institute for Urban Innovation. As an applied urban and public economist, he researches the consequences of urban sorting on spatial inequality, housing affordability, and the welfare of low-income households. His ongoing research combines large-scale administrative data from the US Census Bureau with economic theory to understand the consequences of gentrification for incumbent residents in gentrifying neighborhoods. Before joining the Harris School of Public Policy, Robert graduated with a Ph.D. in Public Policy from Harvard University and received a B.A. and M.A. in economics from the University of Toronto.
