Peter Herman Part-Time Lecturer Contact Email Peter Herman About Peter Herman is a Senior Research Methodologist in at NORC at the University of Chicago. Since joining NORC in 2016, Peter has served as an expert in web-based interactive data visualization tools and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) analysis. In this capacity he has served as the lead programmer for several NORC data visualization web tools, and served as a GIS consultant to the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Truth Foundation, and the Ukrainian USAID mission among many others. Peter's research focuses on the intersection of GIS and Public Health, and has been published in several journals including Vaccine, Ethnicity and Disease, and the Journal of Medical Internet Research. He is also an expert in address based sampling, web development, and the R language. Peter has presented on these topics for the International Field Directors and Technologies Conference (IFD&TC), the Free and Open Source Software in Geospatial Conference (FOSS4G), the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA), the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR), and the American Statistical Association's Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM). Peter received his BA from the University of Chicago, and MA in Urban Spatial Analytics from the University of Pennsylvania.
