About Mariana Laverde

I am a Ph.D. candidate at the Harris School of Public Policy. I'm interested in studying segregation and its effects on the chances of being poor and of escaping poverty.

I received a B.S. in Mathematics and M.A. in Economics from Universidad de los Andes in Colombia. Before coming to Chicago, I worked as a research assistant in the Department of Economics at Universidad de los Andes and as an economist at Colombia’s Central Bank.
