Gabriel Presler

Gabriel Presler is the inaugural Executive Director of the Master of Science in Climate and Energy Policy (MSCEP) program and a Senior Lecturer at Harris Public Policy. As Executive Director, she oversees the program’s curriculum and capstone experience, acts as a key connector between faculty, instructional staff, and the Institute for Climate and Sustainable Growth, and cultivates partnerships to connect students with leading organizations in climate and energy in preparation for future careers. 

She is a sustainability leader with 25 years of experience in investment research, data, policy, strategy and product management, gathered across global financial services and data organizations. She comes to the University from Morningstar, where she served as the Global Head of Enterprise Sustainability, launching the firm’s corporate sustainability and climate program efforts. In the role, she was responsible for setting strategies that address the firm’s material environmental, social, and governance issues, for global regulatory and voluntary reporting programs, and for representing Morningstar’s perspective to internal and external stakeholders, partners, and clients. She served as the firm’s representative to a range of industry organizations, including technical advisory boards for climate-related efforts, such as Climate Data Utility. 

She was previously Head of Product Management for the Morningstar Global Indexes and Global Director of Marketing for Asset Management Solutions and served as a member of the Morningstar Indexes Operating Committee. Past positions include Strategy Director and COO at Capital New York (acquired by Politico) and equity research at Neuberger Berman, in New York City and Mumbai. She is currently an instructor at the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy Studies. She holds a BA from Carleton College and an MBA/MPP from the University of Chicago.
