Senior Assistant Director, Career Readiness About Courtney Thompson Courtney Thompson brings her dedication to advocating for student needs and her experience serving students holistically in her role as a career coach on the Career Development Team at Harris Public Policy. In collaboration with her colleagues, Courtney ensures that Harris graduate students have the essential strategies to navigate career options as well as the career decision-making skills to secure opportunities that align with their professional goals and personal self-exploration. Through career advising, she strives to create an environment where individuals can be their authentic selves at Harris and beyond. Before joining Harris, Courtney served as an AmeriCorps member with City Year Chicago, peer-mentoring Chicago Public School students in the Chicago Lawn community. In her second year with City Year, Courtney supervised a team of seven AmeriCorps members in the Englewood community. During the summer of 2017, she worked with the Center for Leadership and Involvement, overseeing 15 projects and launching a Women’s Leadership Book Club. Courtney’s work in student affairs spans across career coaching, professional development, diversity and inclusion, leadership development, events management, and career readiness programming. Courtney holds a BA in Spanish and pre-professional education and an MEd in college student personnel administration, both from James Madison University.
